Full moon tonight, and a lunar eclipse. At first there was a chunk of moon missing, a nip, with shadowy edging. It looks like the Darkness nibbled, and left a smear. Then an arc of earth’s shadow against the moon, the face masked. A brilliant white topknot. The orange red moon, clearly a globe, a marble. And a bank of cloud came up and hid all.
I’m not sure how this came to be. I’m guessing it’s the folk who are ripping out the invasive blackberries and planting local plants in place. (Hard and unenviable work!) But it was fun to see this little fellow deeper in the woods, improbable, self-sufficient, charming.
